This month we welcome Lauren Bacon, joining LCHS as our new Relations Coordinator!
Lauren is an avid animal-lover and we’re thrilled to have her sharp mind and smiling face at LCHS. Read more about her in her own words below!
My parents made the (wonderful) mistake of sending me to Busch Gardens zoo camp starting in middle school and I quickly became obsessed with animals and the natural world.
I spent every summer there training animals and teaching in the education department. During college, I interned at the Dallas Zoo and even helped a penguin throw out the first pitch at a Rangers game! After I graduated from Rollins College in 2011 with my B.S. in Environmental Science and certificate in Animal Psychology I headed straight back to Tampa. I spent the next year training and performing at Busch Gardens. During that time, I adopted my first dog, my best friend: Moxy!
I moved home to Tallahassee shortly after and started at the Earl Bacon Agency as an insurance agent and social media manager. But I needed my animal kick! So, I started fostering puppies. I quickly realized being a foster parent is the best feeling in the world and dove in with both feet. I specifically enjoy fostering dogs with medical issues or special needs because you can experience the difference you are making every day.
Tallahassee has always been home. I enjoy being involved in community organizations like the Tallahassee Network of Young Professionals and currently sit on the board for Opening Nights. If you see me out and about, please stop and say hi!
